Boston Betting on "Dice-K"

I think its great that different cultures have newspapers and reading specifically focused on the ethnic views of the culture. I looked at the Asian Newsweek; it’s interesting to find all the activities that bring the Asian culture to America. Its great to experience different cultures and learn about them. The article I read is by A. J. Hayes, 2007 Baseball Preview: Boston Betting on "Dice-K." This article is about Dice-K being bought by the Red Sox, and how Japan is more than angry with “their best talents fleeing to America.” From Japan's point of view they, think it is "exorbitant" that America is spending over $150 million on Japanese imports. The article also says that the players are well worth the money but America is only doing it to draw Japanese headliners.

We are not taking Japanese players for face value, we want them for their talent. See these types of articles get people hyped up, which is probably the point of their writing style. But it really makes the red sox, boston and the united states look bad by saying these types of things.

I think Japan should be happy that Boston is interested in recruiting japanese players. They should not be complaining about it, they should be excited and encourage them to do well even if they are playing in the U.S.
