Ireland

The Ireland website brands it as a tourists attraction with different places a person can go if they visit Ireland, along with sponsored ads. Different links tell the history. Links are also there to help further the search about Ireland. I really gives you a welcoming feeling when a country offer their sites and land features as a have to see, like a waterfall or a castle.

Mac and Diversity

I know i talked about Mac last week too but i figured with what i saw last time that it transfered over to this week as well. All of the mac websites tend to be the same, just with the change in language. The images are all the same, the layouts are all the same and with the exception of the japanese site, the commercials that play on the site are the same just dubbed with different languages. The japanese seemed to be the only one that was different from the others. It has different ads and images on it and the commercials are different and star different people. In there commercials however Mac is good with diversity. One key example is the commercial for the ipod shuffle were the faces keep changing as the product moves around. They used all different types and races. Mac is really good at doing this, even with commercials that are just silhouettes.

Gatorade

Gatorade is a very popular sports drink in the U.S. This company shows its diversity within the U.S. and focuses on all popular sports and show athletes of different races. Some of the commercials made have professional athletes from different sports, different races, as well as both genders. One of my favorite commercials comes from Gatorade, where they have five well-known athletes with child bodies playing all different sports together. There are so many diverse athletes within each of the sports that Gatorade sponsors, as well as diverse fans.

Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless is very up-to-date with using all races in thier advertisements. Online various races are pictured as equals. No one race or sex is given a high-status than the other. In additon, the page offers a separate spanish page for those who dont speak english. It's probably on of the most politically correct marketing/advertisement pages on the web. It has a lot to do with the agency they use, GlobalWorks Group which aims to connect all people and end the high and low status features in most advertisements.

Kelloggs

I looked at the diversity of the Kellogg’s brand. The web site is pretty diverse it only shows the characters that every one associates the Kellogg’s brand with, like the Frog and Tony the tiger. There is an option of language between English or Spanish. I guess because a lot of other foreign languages are so similar to Spanish they thought that it would be the best second language to have on the site.

Nike Goes Diverse

I checked out Nike.com to see how Nike responds to diversity. The opening page allowed the viewer to choose which language they wanted to see the page in. There were a number of choices from: English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Portugese, Turish, and a few Asian languages also. Once you clicked on the language then a number of countries poped up that spoke that language and you pick the country you belong to. Obviously, I clicked on the United States page. The opening page displayed a number of famous athletes all advertising Nike's Sport's Tee. Nike did a good job by showing a number of athletes that were from different ethnic groups, however I did not see any Asians. However, I'm sure that if a viewer clicked an Asian page their would be a lot of Asian references. Overall, I thought that Nike's website reflected a lot of diversity.

Australian Beer Commercial

I have come to the realization that pretty much all beer comercials world wide have the same themes- being FUNNY! This Hahn Beer commercial from Australia has a women relaxing in a hot tub and then shows a man cannon-balling in the hot tob after her with his beer. He completely ruins the relaxing, romantic mood that the woman wanted. There is a whole campaign of these ads that are all similar. Most beer advertisements tend to provoke humor. After seeing this funny beer commercial from Australia, I'm beginning to think that most beer commercial in most of the countries follow this trend of advertising funny beer commercials.

Mac commercials in Japan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD1igWNAgfA

i was very curious how mac did their commercials on a international bases. Here is the Japanese version of the very popular mac vs pc commercial. the characters have been changed from two white guys to two japanese men, however they wear the same outfits as before. The pc is still in his office suit, while the mac is laid back in his jeans. i was unable to understand what they were saying (no subtitles given) but the acting was a little bit funnier. I had heard from a friend that these versions were funnier than their american counterparts. it was very goofy and kept with the same type of theme (from what i could tell). it seems like it is for fighting viruses, the pc all dressed up to fight but when the mac points out something he cowers behind the mac. i thought it was nicely down and conformed to japanese culture while keeping with the american formula.

German Commerical

Warning: explicit language

this commercial is hysterical. it tallks about language barriers. the commerical features older people listening to english laguage commercial- not knowing what it says. the commerical could never air in america because it would be censored so quickly.

Lander (French Commercial)

You can only laugh at how unacceptable this commercial would be in America. It is a commercial for the brand LANDER, which the product is skin creme, but the approach of it looks almost as if you were watching a porno. I even think thats what the advertisers intention might have been, and if not, they have some issues. This commercial could have shown skin creme in so many different ways, but apparently foreign countries have a lot of ads shown in this type of manner, however, it is still amusing. I would advise everyone to watch this ad.

McDonald Commercial in China

This ad is not like any McDonalds ad that I have ever seen. You would think after seeing this ad that they should ID you when you come through the door. It’s very seductive for McDonalds. Apparently in China a Big Mac is something sexy and provocative. The words in the commercial say, "You can feel it. Thicker. You can taste it. Juicier." as it shows close up images of a woman’s neck, and then they lick their fingers as a man and a woman are eating a Big Mac. Its not you normal U.S bring your kids to McDonalds and get a happy meal commercial, its actually disturbing seeing the new turn on the McDonalds Commercial.

American Indian/Alaska Natives

It might be overlooked, but American Indians as well as natives from Alaska are considered to be minorities in the U.S. I originally found out about these minorities through www.cdc.gov, which is the site for minority health. Apparently these people have origins in any of the original people from North and South Americas and still have tribes around the U.S. with their own cultures and beliefs. It was interesting to find out how some, and most tribes get a different type of health care within the federally recognized tribes. Their health care may be poorer because of spirtiual beliefs or from their lifestyle. I liked this site because of how much I didn't know about these people and that they even still resided in tribes among the U.S.

Sites for Those who are Deaf

As i was browsing the internet trying to figure out what group to look at i found a huge amount of websites for those who are deaf. There were a ton of sites from those who children, parents, sites like Deafsinglesconnection.com a dating sites for people who are deaf. There were chat rooms, links to magazines and news papers. There were events and education sites, foundations and sites about deaf culture, technology, interpreting and all other types of things. I thought it was all very neat and interesting. There were so many sites and resources for people who are deaf. There was this one site called Deaf Zone, which was a very neat and user friendly site that seemed to be for a twenty something audience. Deaf Linx was very very informational site, while deaf children was more of an organization for the rights of deaf children. Deaf.com was a deaf community that i though was the best i can across. They had chats, news and a bunch of magazines you could subscribe to. I never really realized how many sites were out there for people who are deaf or noticing other peoples post, the blind and other groups. Its great to see the building of global communities amongst different groups.

Mentally Challenged

This website is a help guide in raising a mentally challenged child. It targets different trouble spots and questions that parents, family or guardians would have in raising a child with challenged mental abilities. They target on how do you rate mental deficiency. How to classify the mentally subnormal. What the causes and effects of mental deficiency are and how should one deal with such a problem? I think the mentally challenged is considered a minority but is over looked by the classification. They don’t have the same attention and respect that is given to other minorities. These children are given up on early in life because they contain information slower than what the majority of the people can.
